Video Poker is a favored game that is able to be gambled on in casinos all over the world, or in your house on your home computer, through a web connection. The game rules are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to achieve the best combination of cards possible in order to win cash. In this respect it is much the same as a regular game of poker, apart from the line of contact with competing players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the player puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and presses the draw button. A 5 card hand will then be "distributed" on the screen.
The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and gamblers will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.
After the gambler has selected which cards she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards will be handed out if desired. The round is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can range from game to game, so that knowledgeable enthusiasts are agile enough to pick the most money-making ones each instance.
Once the first round has completed, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that they may have won. Additionally, several versions of the game give the bettor a chance to increase their wins, in which situation a further game is played. There are also variations between individual machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
