Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can change from game to game, so that experienced bettors are able to choose the most profitable game every time.

Once the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Additionally, a few styles of the game allow the player an opportunity to double their winnings, in which situation another round is played. There are also differences between specific games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
